Debenhams Manchester

Ramora just completed a successful deep clean of the external elevations of Debenhams Manchester working in close partnership with CW Projects in Yorkshire.

We were approached by a contractor during the summer with the brief to clean the external facade of the Debenhams store in Manchester City centre on the corner of High Street and Market Street. We commenced discussions in August focusing on probable costings, taking into consideration the Clients wishes of no scaffolding for the building and to work around the store opening times. As the specification and the various forms of access were discussed Ramora commenced dialogue with all the relevant authorities including Metro Link as they were about to open the tram route running along two sides of the three that were to be cleaned.

Highways wanted to keep Market Street open and although this presented problems to ourselves in maintaining a safe working area, we agreed a method of suitable to all parties. The Environmental team happy with our plans to keep noise away from key areas by using the building as a sound shield. Once all parties had agreed this only allowed four weeks to carry out the clean to meet Debenhams deadline of the 12th November.

Using our state of the art technology of high temperature and low pressure we commenced the cleaning in mid October, working through the nights to reduce any inconvenience to the public. The planning for the project was to use a combination of temporary access cradles and large tuck mounted access machines, alternating between the two to allow repositioning of the cradles during the night.

After only two weeks the majority of the clean was completed leaving two difficult areas to be accessed using our in house IRATA team. The project has been completed on time, within the clients budget and to their total satisfaction making sure their store is ready the Christmas shoppers.
