The delivery teams have started one of regional contracts removing chewing gum and deep cleansing the footpaths. We have been involved with our client for a number of years and we regularly remove the chewing gum every 4 months, maintaining a high standard of low gum levels throughout the city centre. Combining deep cleans with spot teams that control the chewing gum levels throughout the year results in excellent visual results for the general public.
We have taken several random surveys of the area asking the general public their opinions of the pavements and we have a number of comments stating the lower levels of chewing gum compared to other town centres. These surveys help our client continue to obtain funding to reduce the gum levels in the main pedestrian routes in the city, as the cost to carry out the works can be reconciled with the public’s opinion.

A Challenging Clean
This week we started one of our most challenging cleans in Birmingham City Centre.
Broad Street as many know is the hub of Birmingham’s nightlife and is alive 24/7.Health and Safety is a major issue on this project as the streets are never quiet. Also we need to look after the local businesses and keep disruptions down to minimum.
Before we start any shift our team has to speak to the bars and restaurant owners before hand to ascertain which are there quietist times so that we are able barrier off areas to work within and still allow access for the public and customers.
Fortunately having done this now for a number of years we have built up a rapport with the business owners are able to make sure that one of the city’s most visited streets is maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness

A Return to Gracechurch Shopping Centre
Ramora returned to Gracechurch Shopping Centre in Sutton Coldfield this week to carry out one of it’s contract cleans.
One team was in the multi storey car park cleaning the main roadway that leads from the entrance barrier to the exit. This requires regular attention due to the amount of traffic and also being the most high profile area.
Another team was sent in to clean a specific area within the shopping centre in readiness for one of our sister companies Slipguard to follow in behind and apply an anti slip-floor surface treatment. Injuries due to slippery falls are increasingly common and the aim of this exercise is to demonstrate to our client that we can supply a full package of not only an on going, high quality cleaning service but also provide them with a safer environment for there customers and workforce.

City Centre Chewing Gum Removal
The delivery teams have been focused in delivering several city centre deep cleans, which involves a thorough deep clean of the pavements and then removal of the chewing gum. Working with our key clients we have been sending in spotting teams to identify key chewing gum problem areas, such as outside of food retail units, around litter bins and meeting areas.
The chewing gum removal teams, then target these areas prior to the deep clean to allow more efficient production and a higher proportion of gum removal. Although at Ramora we strive for ZERO gum, working late at night can have the problems of seeing all the chewing gum on the pavements. This two stage process although more expensive does although greater improvement in chewing gum identification.
When doing chewing gum spotting it does leave the pavement streaky until the deep clean is carried out, but our clients can also see the benefits of a deep clean and are delighted with the chewing gum levels following the operation.

Clean in Chelmsford
We had a team of operators return to Chelmsford this week to carry out a specific clean of bus stops and street furniture within the town centre for the local council.
Having recently invested heavily in a street cleaning programme, the council are looking to maintain the high standards of cleanliness.
We have been asked every fortnight to carry out a deep cleanse to all prominent street furniture and bus stops. Working from the early hours of the morning this can be carried out with minimal disruption to locals and commuters.

Chewing Gum Removal Project
The delivery teams have just concluded a major first clean of Chemlsford High street, on time and delivering to the exacting standards of the client. The levels of chewing gum in key locations, outside fast food shops and similar retail outlets was high. However, with the use of our technology the chewing gum was quickly removed leaving a fresh clean footpath.
The teams are now starting another chewing gum removal project for Wolvohampton. The gums levels are variable but we will assess the number of pieces we have removed at the end of the project.
Some areas are bordering upto 40 pieces per sq m so a reasonable challenge for the teams.

Delivering Planned Works
Ramora have had another busy week delivering planned works for long standing clients and helping clients who have urgent requests. However our main achievement is the nearing of completion our first deep clean of Chelmsford city centre.
As a new contract for Ramora the operational teams were keen to meet the clients standards and our own. The day before a large inspection by the client, a detailed walk around the completed works highlighted a problem with a refuge vehicle. A councils vehicle had left huge staining over the length of the High Street, which is over 300metres long.
Although not part of our contracted works the two teams decided to wash down the High Street after they had completed their evening shift.
The following mornings detailed inspection gained sign off and a huge thank you from the client, who was aware of the problem and had no easy solution. Ramora felt that although the issue was not our problem we always try to provide a solution as the teams take a pride in their work, and always try to exceed the clients targets.
